1. What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use Sadaqah PH (the "App") and make donations through our services, in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules.

We do not store full credit/debit card numbers or CVV codes. Payment card data is handled by PayMongo, our payment processor.

3. Purposes of Processing

We process your personal data to:

  1. Process and record your donations and issue receipts or acknowledgment letters.
  2. Communicate with you about your donation, campaigns, and (if you consent) future updates or opportunities to donate.
  3. Comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including BIR and anti–money laundering requirements.
  4. Improve the App, prevent fraud, and ensure security.

Under the Data Privacy Act, we rely on:

  1. Consent — when you voluntarily provide data and check consent boxes (e.g., for newsletters or marketing communications).
  2. Contractual necessity — to process your donation and fulfill our obligations to you (e.g., issuing receipts, providing services).
  3. Legal obligation — to comply with Philippine tax, accounting, and regulatory laws.
  4. Legitimate interests — for security, fraud prevention, and service improvement, where not overridden by your rights and freedoms.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your personal data with:

  1. PayMongo and other payment processors, solely to process payments.
  2. Banks and financial institutions for settlement and reconciliation.
  3. Government authorities (e.g., BIR, National Privacy Commission) when required by law.
  4. Service providers (e.g., hosting, email, analytics) under confidentiality and data-processing obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to:

  1. Fulfill the purposes described in this Policy;
  2. Comply with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., BIR records retention); and
  3. Resolve disputes and enforce our policies.

After these periods, data is securely deleted or anonymized, unless further retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights as a Data Subject

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  1. Be informed about how your data is processed.
  2. Access and obtain a copy of your personal data.
  3. Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  4. Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
  5. Data portability, in a structured and commonly used format.
  6. Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent), without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  7. Lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) if you believe your rights have been violated.

8. Security Measures

We implement reasonable organizational, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include secure servers, access controls, and encryption where appropriate.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Cookies and Analytics

The App may use cookies and similar technologies to understand usage patterns and improve performance. You can control cookie settings through your browser, but disabling certain cookies may affect App functionality.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on the App with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
